The Pizza Incident

The Pizza Incident

Hello everyone, it’s me, Shaun.

Pip, Henry and I went undercover for a few days because we were planning on acquiring a pizza without my uncles and my mommies knowledge.

Unfortunately not everything went quite according to plan. When the delivery person arrived with our pizza, Pip and Henry, disguised in one of my Uncle’s shirt, were already waiting at the door to receive the pizza and give the delivery boy some coins we had scavenged over the last few weeks.

But when he took the pizza out, Little Pip couldn’t help himself and burst out of the shirt shouting “Pip pip!”. The delivery person was so surprised, he shrieked like a girl and tried to run away, with our pizza!

Henry, shouting his most fearsome Ewok warrior-cry, jumped on the mans back and held onto him while I had appeared on the stairs to cut the pizza man of.

He would never get past me!

Employing my ninja skills, I somersaulted into the air and used Thwack to “pacify” the pizza man. Unfortunately he was wearing a bicycle helmet and Thwack only made a hollow boink noise and fell to floor.

Luckily for us, Little Pip cam to the rescue by holding onto one of the mans legs. The man was so confused by now, that he tried to walk backwards and he stumbled over Thwack. While bumping on his bottom he let go of the delivery bag.

The pizza was ours and we did a celebratory victory dance around the delivery bag while the piazza man crawled to safety.

I’m sure he wouldn’t hold a grudge, after all we gave him some extra coins for his troubles :-)

Yum yum Pizza :-)

Staff T-Shirt AKON 17

This staff shirt for Akon17 was a rush job, but the fans liked it.
The theme was Pirates vs. Ninjas, and it features my mermaid warrior princess and "Captain Octo".
Oddly, I had not yet seen the second "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie so I hadn't seen Davy Jones. If I had, then I probably would never had drawn Capt. Octo.

Richard Pryor - Live in Concert

Richard Pryor - Live in Concert

Crude. Foul. Real. In a word, that?s Richard Pryor: Live in Concert. In this, the funnyman?s first and best concert film, Pryor does dead-on impersonations of the respective races, cussing, trying to act tough, getting kicked in privates. But it's his imagination that elevates him to a different level and hints at the comedic genius of the man. He gives his impressions of what animals think, from his own animals (a monkey, a Doberman) to police dogs, and it seems so exact, so precise. Not to mention the fact that he is at his self-deprecating best, skewering himself as much as any other subject.

Watching Pryor go from imitating a drinking deer to a woman debating about going in the woods gives just a hint of the comedic genius of the man. Crude, foul, and real, this is the first and best of his concert films. Pryor does dead-on impersonations of the respective races, cussing, trying to act tough, getting kicked in personal spots. But it's his imagination that elevates him to a different level. He gives his impressions of what animals think, from his own animals (a monkey, a Doberman) to police dogs, and it seems so exact, so prescient. Not to mention the fact that he is self-deprecating in the extreme, and has as much fun skewering himself as any other subject. Still vibrant, still funny. --Keith Simanton

Merv Griffin Grave

Merv Griffin Grave

"I will not be right back after this message."

Early life

Griffin was born into a middle class Irish American family on July 6, 1925 in San Mateo, California to Mervyn Griffin Sr., a stock broker and Rita Griffin (nee Robinson), a homemaker. Raised as a Roman Catholic, Griffin started singing in his church choir as a boy, and by his teens was earning extra money as a church organist. He attended San Mateo High School, class of 1942, and continued to aid in financing the school.[3
Duing World War II, Merv was declared 4F after failing several military physical exams due to increased weight and having a slight heart murmur. Drafted for service during the Korean War, he was slimmed down and passed the physical, but was deemed too old as the draft limit was 26 and he had just turned 27.

Career

Singing at 19

Griffin started as a singer on radio at age 19, appearing on San Francisco Sketchbook, a nationally syndicated program based at KFRC. Griffin was slightly overweight as a teenager, which disappointed his radio fans.[citation needed] Embarrassed by their reaction, Griffin resolved to lose weight and change his image, losing 80 pounds in four months. Freddy Martin heard him on the radio show and asked Griffin to tour with his orchestra[1], which he did for four years.[4]

Within a year, Griffin earned enough to form his own record label, Panda Records, which produced Songs by Merv Griffin, the first American album ever recorded on magnetic tape.[5] He became increasingly popular with nightclub audiences, and his fame soared among the general public with his 1950 hit I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts. The song reached the number one spot on the Hit Parade and sold three million copies.

During one of his nightclub performances, Griffin was discovered by Doris Day. Day arranged for a screen test at Warner Brothers Studios for a role in By the Light of the Silvery Moon. Griffin didn't get the part, but the screen test led to supporting roles in other musical films such as So This is Love in 1953.[7] The film caused a minor controversy when Griffin shared an open-mouthed kiss with Kathryn Grayson. The kiss was a first in Hollywood film history since the introduction of the Production Code in 1934.
Griffin would go on to film more pictures, namely, The Boy From Oklahoma and Phantom of the Rue Morgue, but soon became disillusioned with movie making. Griffin bought his contract back from Warner Brothers and decided to focus on a new medium: television.[3]

Game show host

From 1958 to 1962, Griffin hosted a game show produced by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman called Play Your Hunch. The show appeared on all three networks, but primarily on NBC. He also hosted a prime time game show for ABC called Keep Talking. In 1963, NBC offered him the opportunity to host a new game show, Word for Word, which Griffin produced. He also produced Let's Play Post Office for NBC in 1965; Reach for the Stars for NBC in 1967; One in a Million for ABC in 1967, and in 1990, an ambitious but unsuccessful attempt at making a game show out of the venerable board game Monopoly.

Talk show host

Griffin scored a coup when Jack Paar accidentally emerged onto the set of Play Your Hunch during a live broadcast, and Griffin got him to stay for a spontaneous interview. He parlayed that into a guest-hosting spot on The Tonight Show, then hosted by Paar, and his own daytime talk show on NBC in 1962.

In 1965, Griffin launched a syndicated talk show for Group W (Westinghouse Broadcasting): The Merv Griffin Show. The show aired in a variety of time slots throughout North America; many stations ran it in the daytime, some broadcast it opposite Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show, and it was carried for many years in prime time on WNEW in New York.[citation needed] Griffin's announcer/sidekick was the veteran British character actor Arthur Treacher, who had been his mentor. Treacher would introduce Griffin with the phrase: "And now, the dear boy himself" after reading off the list of guests for that evening's show.[citation needed] After Treacher left the show, Griffin would do the announcing himself, and walk on stage with the phrase: "And now..., here I come!" According to an obituary article on August 24, 2007 in Entertainment Weekly, The Merv Griffin Show was on the air for 21 years and won eleven Emmy Awards during its run.

Griffin was not shy about tackling controversial subjects, especially the Vietnam War. The guests on the Westinghouse show were an eclectic mix of entertainers, authors, politicians, and "personality" performers like Zsa Zsa Gabor. Griffin also booked controversial guests like George Carlin, Dick Gregory, Richard Pryor, Norman Mailer, and Bertrand Russell. Griffin received critical acclaim for booking such guests, but was also widely criticized for it. When anti-war activist Bertrand Russell used Griffin's show to condemn the war in Vietnam, Griffin was criticized for letting Russell hav

Anthology 1968-1992

Listening to this two-disc collection, you get a vivid picture of how Richard Pryor's comic genius evolved. He went from the early Cosby-esque style of "Super Nigger" and "Prison Play" to the 'hood humor of "Have Your Ass Home By 11:00" and "Wino & Junkie." Then came his razor-sharp socio-political observations in "Bicentennial Nigger" and "Africa," and the intensely personal, highly publicized travails recounted in "New Year's Eve," "Freebase," and "M.S." Every comic working today owes a debt to this profane-yet-profound genius. Rhino's two-disc Richard Pryor: The Anthology (1968-1992) is jam-packed with 26 of Pryor's most outrageous routines gathered from his seven Warner albums and the Pryor archives. Over 2-hours of hilarity!

Road House

Patrick Swayze stars in this sexy, "violent tough-guy thriller" (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) from the producer of Die Hard and The Matrix. Co-starring Ben Gazzara (The Thomas Crown Affair), Kelly Lynch (Charlie's Angels) and Sam Elliott (We Were Soldiers), Road House delivers no-holds-barred action that pushes the envelope for high-octane thrills! Swayze is Dalton, a legendary bouncer who comes to Jasper, Missouri, for a special purpose: to restore order at the notorious Double Deuce bar. In one spectacular fight after another, Dalton rids the bar of thugs and henchmen. But when he runs afoul of a ruthless crime boss (Gazzara) who controls the town, the stage is set for a blistering showdown that'll leave only one man standing!

One of those movies that helped usher out the era of action films that had plots that made any sense (and also helped reverse the direction of Patrick Swayze's career arc), Road House concerns a handsome, existential bouncer in a rinky-dink honky-tonk who owns both a degree in philosophy and a Mercedes. And that's perhaps the most believable aspect of the whole movie. Swayze stars as Dalton, "the best bouncer in the business," who runs afoul of Wesley (Ben Gazzara), the meanest SOB round these parts, by taking up with his former girlfriend, Doc (Kelly Lynch)--the only woman in town with an IQ approaching double digits, even if she had unfathomably hooked up with such a lowlife. Swayze had complained about being typecast as beefcake when this was made, but that didn't stop him from revealing as much skin as possible--even guys like him, as revealed in a luridly seedy scene in which one of Wesley's goons tells Dalton that he reminds him of the kind of boyfriend he had in prison (albeit in much saltier terms). It's so insulting to its audience that it's nice to be able to turn the tables and laugh at the filmmakers. --David Kronke

Indonesia, Sulawesi Selatan, Kabupaten Gowa, Bilibili

Indonesia, Sulawesi Selatan, Kabupaten Gowa, Bilibili

Road from Malino to Makassar.

Typical house for that part of Sulawesi. There are more beautiful houses in the Toraja area, further north in the same province. But somehow I'm not attracted to go there. The main reason is not the terrible Toraja T-shirt that is sold in all the souvenir shops of Makassar airport (although that would be reason enough), but I have prejudice against what people call "adventure tourism".

I have a friend who went to Toraja to see the fascinating death cult of the people there. When she arrived in Rantepao, a local speaker of the English language offered his services as a guide and took her to a village because he knew that - coincidentially - a funeral was happening there on that very day.

After that I googled a little and checked on flickr, only to find that everybody else who goes there brings back the same photos as she did: The same beautiful houses, the same village, the same funeral. I can't get rid of the feeling that it may be staged for the tourists.

It's a bit like the story of the tourists, who tell you, full of excitement, of their trip to see an undiscovered waterfall, and in the middle of the jungle the minibus of the tour organisation got stuck in the mud. Then a bunch of wild men jumped out of the forest, clad in loincloth, who looked like dangerous cannibals. And, to everybody's great surprise, they helped to get the bus out of the mudhole with their bamboo sticks and banana leaves.

Of course you know that this is all arranged on a weekly basis for the visiting tourist groups, the mud is artificial and the fee for the "wild men" (who wear long trousers and shirts for the rest of the day) is included in the price for the whole package.

I understand that the people are poor and have to be inventive to satisfy the rich foreign tourists. But not with me, please.

So I have to be satisfied with second class Sulawesi houses and can see the better ones only on other people's photos - and on that horrible T-shirt in the airport.

118/365 My song is love

I woke up this morning yelling “shit” as I checked the time and saw I overslept. As I checked my phone for the time, I also checked it for a text. Nothing. While I got ready for school, I checked facebook to see if you left some hopelessly romantic wall post. Nothing. I waited for my phone to start vibrating in my pocket while I was straightening my hair. Nothing. I walk into school thinking of seeing you with flowers or to greet me with a big, loving hug. Nothing. I leave to go into first period, waiting for some nice and sweet “I love you.” Nothing. I sit in first period. Tears. I write you a letter. Fear. I give it to you. Silence. I see you at the end of the day. Scared. We barely make conversation as we start to say good bye. Coward. You kiss me good bye. A kiss that felt like lips pressing up against lips and nothing more. Pain. Sitting on the bus, listening to John Mayer, writing this. Doubts. Raining while the sun is shining. Everything. Will. Be. Okay.

I love you but today you really broke my heart</3

Today is 2 years with Gary and all I get is “Happy 2 years, by the way” And it’s not even about getting anything; it’s about showing that person you care and that just didn’t happen today. It hasn’t in awhile.
Please don’t feel sympathy for me. This is my own fault for putting up with it. I just needed to vent. Sorry, Flickr that you had to be the ventee.

You know what made my day? The people who drove past me while I was taking this. The people who drove past me and smiled. That meant the world to me. The little things go a long way for me. They always have and always will<3

Those are hearts on my guitar. And I don’t care that parts of this are over-exposed.
